1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using NeighborMeals, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the platform. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and arrange meal pickups.

2. Platform Role & Limitations

NeighborMeals acts strictly as a neutral intermediary platform. We provide a space for users to discover and share meals. We are not a restaurant, food provider, or delivery service. We do not vet users, inspect kitchens, or verify the accuracy of meal listings.

3. Food Safety and Assumption of Risk

Users consume meals entirely at their own risk. By ordering a meal, you explicitly acknowledge that the food is prepared in a private home kitchen that is not subject to commercial food safety inspections or regulations.

• For Cooks: You are solely responsible for safely preparing, storing, and packaging food. You must comply with all local laws and regulations regarding home-cooked food. You are required to accurately list all ingredients and explicitly highlight common allergens.
• For Diners: It is your sole responsibility to inquire about ingredients and allergens before requesting a meal. NeighborMeals cannot guarantee that any meal is free from allergens.

4. Payments and Transactions

NeighborMeals is a free service. Any payments or contributions for ingredients are handled entirely between users via external third-party links (e.g., Tikkie, PayPal). NeighborMeals does not process payments, collect fees, or facilitate refunds. All transactions are final and disputes must be resolved directly between the buyer and the cook.

5. User Content and Conduct

You are responsible for the photos, descriptions, and messages you post. By posting content, you grant NeighborMeals a non-exclusive right to display it on the platform. We reserve the right to remove any content or terminate any account at our sole discretion, without notice, for harassment, fraud, illegal activity, or violating these Terms.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

The platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind. NeighborMeals disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including the safety, quality, or legality of the meals shared.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NeighborMeals and its creators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages—including but not limited to foodborne illness, allergic reactions, injury, or death—arising from your use of the platform or the consumption of any food obtained through it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless NeighborMeals from any claims, damages, liabilities, medical bills, or legal fees arising out of your use of the platform, the food you prepare or consume, or your violation of these Terms of Service.
